I am super excited his week’s Top Ten Tuesday them with The Broke and the Bookish is Top Ten New to Me in 2013 Authors since I have read an amazing number of great authors this year. Many of these authors have not only found a place in my heart but have built permanent homes on my all time favorite books list. I’ve reviewed all of the books I’ve read by these authors feel free to take a peek and befriend me on my goodreads.
Veronica Roth – Looking at my goodreads I realized I rang in the new year with Veronica and if you’ve been here before you know I fell absolutely in love. Divergent is one of my favorite books, I loved Insurgent and I am so so excited for “Detergent”. She wrote Tris and I love being in her mind and ahem Four, yeah he’s pretty great.
Richelle Mead – I am not a vampire girl at all. They just aren’t my thing so I trusted my sister when she said I just had to read the Vampire Academy books. And I am so glad I did. I just love Richelle’s writing. She writes sassy characters and stories full of action. I pretty much smile the whole time I read her books they are so enjoyable. I’ve read all her YA stuff and I’m excited to check out some of her adult fiction as well. BTW all the Vampire Academy books are out so if you’re someone who doesn’t like waiting for the next book this is a great series since they are usually available at the library and when you finish one the next is ready for you.
Rae Carson – You have heard me gush about my love for The Girl of Fire and Throne books. I love that even though Rae isn’t religious herself she represents a religious perspective (albeit ficticious) respectfully and with depth. Plus the heroine she creates in Elisa are wonderful.
Amy Plum – So far I have only read Die For Me but it was so much fun. The story and characters pulled me in. I loved how it felt like a contemporary book but with powers and fighting because you know I kinda love powers and fight.
Erin Morgenstern – I’ve said this many many times but The Night Circus is a beautiful book that celebrates the fan and we all know I am a crazy fan. But is is lovely, and thought provoking, and magical. So many books show you a story, but I feel like this book in a real way takes you along on the story. I loved seeing things be built from the ground up.
Kristin Cashore – Now that the Graceling series is over all I can say is that I want more. Cashores heroines are so stinking great I adore them. The stories are so much fun and they are beautifully written. These are some of my all time favorite books and some of the books I recommend the most.
Sarah Dessen – People love Dessen and she has A.LOT of books. The movie How to Deal with Mandy Moore was actually based off of two of her books. I’ve read Along for the Ride and Lock and Key and thought they were lots of fun. Perfect vacation books in my opinion. I’m excited to make my way through her long list of titles.
Josephine Angelini – I’m starting to realize that I unknowingly developed a thing for Greek Mythology. Not sure when but it’s there in my heart. So when I read Angelini’s Starcrossed which is kind of a contemporary, kids with powers, greek mythology mash up of sorts I was sold. I haven’t gotten to book two in the series yet but I’m definitely looking forward to where the book goes
Jennifer Armentrout – Possibly the best love triangle ever. In a time where love triangles are the thing to do I feel like the Covenant books use a triangle in away that actually makes sense not just as a way to add some relational tension. I find myself tearing through the pages and not wanting her books to end, they are just so much fun. Yes I still feel weird about the originality of the first book but by bok 3 it’s really her own thing and it’s awesome.
Michelle Hodkin – Even though I now have a complex and must turn on all the lights when I get up in the middle of the night to pee I love love love the Mara Dyer books. Crazy unique story that keeps you guessing the whole time and one heck of a book boyfriend oh yes I love Noah Shaw not going to lie.

I know exactly what you mean about these new authors setting up permanent homes on your favorites list. So many of mine have done that. It’s been a great year for reading, even if it seems or feels like I’ve done less this year.
This is proof that I’ve got to crack open my copy of Night Circus as well as Divergent. Both are books I’ve held on to and keep meaning to read. I need to make room!
Thanks so much for stopping by earlier!

Divergent is one of my favourite books as well, it’s the book I recommend most to my friends. I’ve been resisting The Night Circus for so long just because my TBR is toppling, it sounds like the best escape book. My favourite Sarah Dessen book is Just Listen but I’ve got quite a few of her books on my shelf to read. I recently bought The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, I’ve been waiting so long to get my hands on it but I don’t want to read it until I buy the sequel (those covers <3).

I read Sarah Dessen for the first time this year- “Whatever Happened to Goodbye”- and loved it. Planning on reading Veronica Roth in 2013. I’ve heard a lot of good things about “The Night Circus”- will have to add that one to the already infinite TBR list.

I finally read VA this year after repeatedly putting it off, and I fell in love with it and Bloodlines. I completely agree with you on how witty her characters are (especially Adrian). I need to check out her adult books, too. Thanks for stopping by!

The Graceling series isn’t over yet, actually! She’s said she would still write books in that series. I think it’s just an ongoing thing? I discovered the series this year & enjoyed it too. Great list! :)
