After hours and hours of trudging through design blogs I’m convinced that area rugs really make a huge difference. Almost ever single before and after room design I’ve seen has included adding a rug. I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting this one from World Market which is on sale until the end of the month for the couch area. I’m thinking of a solid rug from one of the yellow, blues or greens in this rug for under the table and I’m still figuring out what I want to do for under the bar stools, which have been yet to be found. But yeah I love feeling like one more little thing is checked off.
Any one have any tips or resources for buying rugs? I’m going to want at least 3 more and I haven’t seen anything I like yet. Also let me know if you have any warnings about this rug (is it too trendy, did you get it and have it fall apart, etc.)

I love it! I don’t think it’s too trendy at all. Nice job picking stuff out. Everything you’ve liked, so far, has agreed with me. I look forward to seeing your collection when you get moved.

One thing you should not worry about is if something is too trendy. If you love it, go for it. I think it’s awesome. I have my DVR set to record Color Splash on HGTV. I love David and he always uses the best rugs. Also, did you check out rugs at Ikea when you were there? Some of the best prices I’ve seen. We have a few rugs from there and have not been disppointed in quality.

Thanks guys. Beth I did deeper peek at Ikea’s rugs and there’s 1-2 that are in the running for other areas :)

that one’s beautiful!
also, try pottery barn. in store not online. They always have rugs on sale, either old ones that are deeply discounted or new ones that were hung on display. even if they don’t have any out, ask what they have in back. also, try pottery barn kids – they’re not all super juvenile! (I used to work there :))

My house is full of rugs 90% purchased off Craigslist. And of those 90% are Pottery Barn. :) Bought at a fraction of the price!! Most were still on sale in the store.

We love the world market! Great stuff to be found there!

They really do make a huge difference. They’re easy to move and change out, and they can turn a drab room into a poppin’ room, especially if you’re on a limited budget like me. :-)

i love rugs. but i’m not allowed to buy them. on account of allergies. we’ve all got them. so. it’s pretty gross when allergy season rolls around and we’re all blowing out green stuff. i’m sure you didn’t need to know that last part. but it kinda goes with the whole story. so. sharing. it’s what the blog world is all about. word.
