Custom orders often are the best way to come up with new designs. It’s so fun using someone else’s brain and desires to come up with new creations. This little diaper cover has ruffles that go all the way around. My normal ruffle diaper covers just have the ruffle on the bum so while they are cute for crawlers and runners alike, for cake smashing pictures like my customer was wanting to use these for, all the cutest is hidden. So this is my attempt to bring some of the cuteness to the top. (The picture is of the back but the front looks just the same but with no label.) For this giveaway I’m letting the winner chose the size. 0-3m, 3-6m, 6-12m, 12-24m, 2T or 3T.
I’ve decided after the success of selling the Lovely Showers Ruffle Diaper Cover gift set in my shop that I want to do more sets so I’m going to use you guys to help me think of things to put on the tops. When you leave your comment to enter please give me an idea of what I can put on a onesie to go with some ruffly diaper covers be creative, don’t worry about being to weird or too obvious. Some that I’ve thought off are applique monograms and numbers. What animals do you guys like, shapes, objects, etc? Something that you think people buying for little ones would want and something where the outline is the main shape. Also I’ll add these bottoms to my shop in the next store update (probably end of May or beginning of June) but if you want it before then just send me a note.
p.s. I’m not sold on the name of the new style so if you have ideas for that too that would be great (something that may come up in the search engines).
To Enter:
Be a follower of this blog and/or a facebook fan. If you’re not already a follow/fan see the widgets on the left. (first time followers or fans get additional entries see below)
Then comment here telling me your best ideas for appliques or embellishments to go on ones are (see above if you don’t know what I mean). The lovely shower set to the right is an example of one idea.

A Birthday hat applique with the number of the child’s birthday on the hat and for the top of the hat some cute ribbon to make the PomPom on top. I would buy it if you made it.

I am a follower. Also I think if you did red, navy and stripes on the bottom for a nautical theme that an anchor on the onesie would be adorable. :)

I always like animals. For me the more non-traditionally girly the better. Like an elephant or a dog. (Being a dog person, I have never understood why boy clothes have dogs and girl clothes have cats.) The cupcake someone suggested sounds cute, too! You could have fun embellishing them.

I am a blog follower and facebook fan, and I like the cupcake idea(with # of candles appropriate for the age?), and also thought of balloons – you could do solids or prints to match the bottoms! Also thought of peace signs, crosses, pirate skull/crossbones, hearts, angel wings, flowers, stars, and owls!

I just posted your link on facebook!

I added your button, and when you click on it on my blog, it links to your page, but it’s not showing your cute button picture – just a blue question mark – let me know if there’s something different I should be doing to fix it! Thanks!

These are sooo cute! I love your applique idea! How about a butterfly or a ladybug? Or maybe something more non-traditional like fruits or veggies?

I actually am searching around for this sort of ensemble for my daughter’s 2nd bday pictures coming up in the next two months.
For boys, I think fabric is the main focus for a lot of things. Anything fun like pirates, star wars, monster trucks to the cute ‘baby’ boy stuff.

I would love to see frogs (for gilrs!), ice cream cones, and elephants; as well as birthday things, like the onesie you made Abigail! :)

Birds seem to be all the rage these days. For the pink and brown, a cute brown silhouette of a bird would be adorable.
smalltowngirl says
I would love to win this giveaway! And for designs, I think a frog would be great. It is easy to find frogs on boys clothes, not so common on girls things. I think green and pink would look nice together. And the frog could always be a frog prince.

Such cute things in your shop! I love flowers on little girls, so I think a flower with different colored petals (matching the ruffles) would be darling!

I’ll enter since finally someone I know is having a girl!
I don’t want to read 32 comments, so sorry if these ideas for appliques have already been mentioned:
cupcake
ice cream cone
owl
bird
cherries
watermelon
citrus fruit
Do you have rufflers with red and purple? A red hat (a la red hat society) might be cute.
If I think of more, I’ll let you know.

I think an ice cream cone with a few different scoops/different fabrics and the ruffles in the coordinating fabrics would be darling.
Also cherries, watermelon slice, balloons, bees, flowers, butterfly, flag/patriotic, sun, cloud….just to name a few!

You could do the cute owls or birds that are so popular these days. Or, I know this might be a little more difficult but you could always charge more, you could custom order it to the theme of the birthday party. For instance, a lot of little girl first birthday themes are a 1 with ladybugs and butterflies. You could appliqué to match it.
Mutti says
These are darling. How about something in red, white and blue and Americana… a firecracker, maybe…
I have a new granddaughter who would love this! …As well as a two year old one who would be more than delighted…but only if it were in pink and purple!

How about a “farm” themed outfit? One of my favorite session locations is literally in a cow pasture!! I could see some cute plaid or checkered fabric on the bottom and a few farm animals on the top!

as for ideas, i like things for my girls (19mo & 5mo) that aren’t too “baby-ish.” what about a faux chain, or necklace printed on a onsie?? or an old-school “tattoo” style print, like a swallow or anchor or something?? just a thought.
my 3mo old wore the rocker hot pink diaper cover for her pics and they turned out awesome!! (cant wait to see her pic here!) i ordered the retro ruffler for her 6mo pics – cant wait to see how wonderful its going to turn out!!

Rae-your ruffles are the cutest. I know the cutest little baby that needs one! It’s probably been said, but ladybugs are always cute! Or elephants with flowers behind the ears, a monkey for someones little monkey, ice cream cones are cute too. You could do a double scoop for twins. Okay, now I’m getting the ideas following. :)
