Little Red Riding Hood Maternity Shirt

Let me first say I’m so glad the news is out and I can post pictures with my tummy all out. Does any one else hoard fabric or clothes? Like not necessarily stockpile (but I can’t deny that either) but you know save the good stuff? I have these clothes that I really like and they look good on me but I never wear them because I want them to be special. I’m even worse with fabric. I have a few boxes that are “for me” they are fabric that I adore but I love so much I’m “saving it for something perfect”.

So that’s why I have fallen kind of in love with the Rose T-Shirt pattern from Blank Slate Patterns.  It’s like a compromise for using my favorites from my stash. The bodice detailing only takes a little fabric so I can still hoard the rest for eternity. Or next time I see something just a little too pricey to buy enough for something really wearable I can snatch it up to use with this. So for my very first one I decided to use some Japanese Little Red Riding Hood fabric that I’ve been saving and saving. I just adore this print! And now I have a cute Little Red Riding Hood Maternity Shirt.

I’m pretty sure this shirt is going to be a part of my “getting fat” uniform. It’s not a maternity shirt but it has 2 length options and the cute gathered detail on the front makes it have lots of room for a growing tummy. I didn’t change anything to maternity-ize the top. It’s actually kind of genius the fit of this puppy. I’ve seen Melissa who designed this pattern (she also blogs at Melly Sews) wear her own looking great. She’s a tiny girl (see below) so  it’s definitely flattering on many different body types which is so nice to find in a pattern.

Seriously I really need more clothes, nothing fits any more.
