What to Eat with Onion Beef Gravy
My favorite way to serve this easy wine onion beef sauce recipe is over pasta. I’ve served it with both egg noodles as well as my favorite homemade pasta recipe. It’s so good.
Alternatively it is super delicious over mashed potatoes or if you are trying to cut carbs a little you can also try it over mashed cauliflower!
To finish it off we love a simple veggie side dish of peas with a pat of butter. But it would also be delicious with my quick green beans or even a side salad topped with balsamic vinaigrette.
How To Use Leftover Onion Beef
Now before we get to the recipe I want to encourage you to make more than you need. Not only are the leftovers great as is, but they can be used another recipes for some really tasty, easy concoctions.
One of my favorites is to add some sour cream and mushrooms (and a little beef broth if you need to thin it out) and you’ve got a super easy Beef Stroganoff!
I’ve also thrown it in to packaged ramen for a flavor boost and yummy soupy noodle twist! Gotta love a meal prep that can pull double (or even triple) duty right? Another spin on my favorite fancy ramen.
Lastly we oven will throw any leftover bits, even a small amount adds a good amount of flavor, into my go-to macaroni and cheese recipe. I love a good mac and cheese spin off like buffalo mac and cheese or seafood mac and cheese and this beef version is just as delicious.

The best part of this recipe is that you just dump the ingredients in the crock pot and the slow cooker does all the work for you.
I am not usually an onion texture person so trust me when I say that while this has a decent amount of onions in it, it cooks so soft and it’s all melds together into a delicious sauce!

Instant Pot Beef Wine Gravy
Want to save some time and use your electric pressure cooker to make this? No problem You do need to make some adjustments though since the alcohol won’t cook off in the sealed pressure cooker. So to start off put the Instant Pot on sauté and and boil 1/2 Cup wine for a few minutes now add 1 C beef broth while still on sautéed and scrap the bottom to loosen anything that may have thickened.
Turn off sauté. Without stirring add in the beef cubes and onion and then top with the onion soup seasoning. Cook on high pressure for 50 minutes use a natural release.
Once the pressure has come down you can add your pasta in try to get it on the bottom and put the meat on top cook for 2 minutes with a quick release. If it needs to soften up a bit heat on sauté. At this point if you want the sauce thicker you can mix cornstarch with some water to make a slurry.
