My friend ask me to make one of these cute shirts for her kiddo to give to his dad. She just sent me a picture so I’m not sure where she found it but they are all over if you’re not a crafty person you can even order one from Amazon.
But really they are so easy if you have time and crafty inclinations you might as well make your own!
How to Make a Daddy You’re My Superhero Shirt
Since I took the time to create the image I decided to share it. It is free (along with ALL my downloadable and patterns) to my mailing list subscribers join now.
All you need to show that special guy that he’s appreciated this Father’s Day, Birthday, or just because is a plain shirt and some iron-on vinyl.
I have a free downloadable printable design that will make this as if you had Flash himself helping you out.
What You Need For your Dad Shirt
With my design you can easy resize it. Within the free Cricut Design Space program you can make it wider or longer to fit and fill the shirt you are using.
If your father isn’t so much a shirt person I think this would make a super cute book bag or even print it up and frame it!
- Plain Shirt
- Iron-on Vinyl
- Cutting Machine (I used the Cricut explore Air 2)
- Daddy Superhero Image (check your last email from me for the password for the downloads page, if you aren’t already a subscriber it’s free you can join here!)
Steps for Making a DIY Daddy Superhero Shirt
These are the same steps you’d use for making any fabric based gift. You can put it on a tote bag or an apron would be fun if you think your dad would enjoy that more than a tee.
- Download the free Daddy Superhero Design
- Upload the design into your cutting program. In design space I upload the image then use the magic wand to crop out my non-commercial note and any negative space. See the picture below. It’s pretty self explanatory in the program if you’ve never done it before just give it a try!
- Flip the image so it’s a mirrored image and resize so it fits your shirt how you would like.
- Cut the vinyl by laying the plastic side down on your mat, setting your machine to iron-on vinyl setting, and cutting through the back vinyl side.
- Remove the negative space and then position on your shirt and iron. If you’re new to heat transfer vinyl read this great iron-on vinyl tutorial for how to use it.
I’ll be making this live on my Facebook today! I’ll update it with finished pictures when I’m done.
