This weekend was full of enjoying the spoils of the garden. Yesterday after a trip to the farmers market my mom and sister and I raided my basil plants and made some almond/pine nut pesto. I threw in some of the spinach leaves too. So good I think I’ve had it on 3 things already.
Today we needed a smaller dinner so I pulled out some of my 5 minute bread dough and made a pizza. Topped with pepperoni (zapped and sliced to get rid of some of that grease), jack, cheddar, blue cheese and pine nuts finished with some more basil.
There’s just something rewarding about reaping previous days work, like using bread dough that I made weeks ago (yup I keep it that long, I haven’t gotten sick yet), and eating herbs that I nursed to life months ago. I am getting so so excited to see the fruits of the rest of the garden. Thank you all for all the wonderful tips, I’ve eased up on the watering, gave them some nutrients and they’re looking way better.
But back to the pizza, what are some of your guy’s favorite topping combos. It was nice to have something so easy and a bit different than our norm. Any tips?

Thanks for the degreasing tip on pepperoni. I’ll have to try it. Our favorite toppings are quite simple, considering we’re trying to appeal to our kids as well. However, recently we ordered black olives (yes, one of ours will eat them), and instead of the regular old canned specimens, our pizza arrived sprinkled with succulent kalamatas. It was such a hit. Now we have our own on hand in case the pizza place doesn’t (and, of course for homemade pizzas).
Anyway, I found you on TasteSpotting and am writing to say that if you have any photos that aren’t accepted there, I’d love to publish them. Visit my new site (below), it’s a lot of fun! I hope you will consider it.
Best,

I love basil on my pizza! I do a margarita pizza with olive oil, roasted garlic, basil, mozzarella, parmesan, and some sliced tomatoes.

We’re pretty traditional pizza lovers over here. But the more toppings, the better!
