So I’ve got pictures to share but the baby is screaming on her way to slumberland right where the adapter is. I’m mostly healthy and trying to play a lot of catch up. The first few days of the great baby experiment of having my sister and her baby stay while they get settled were great. Then my sister got a temporary job set up for this coming week which first off is a bit further than we would like to drive (and she doesn’t have her own car) but hopefully tomorrow she’ll get a UT license and then maybe a rental. I think I got the baby sick so she was fussy. The music maker “jokingly” said he didn’t want one. And I overheard him say to the baby “who are you where is the baby that came 5 days ago?”. Then my sister realized that she’d have to figure out how her child would eat while she was working all day. The kid has never taken a bottle and the boob will be 20 minutes away. So the last two days have consisted of buying all different types of bottles, syringes, eye droppers, sippy cups, etc. and baby lanna screaming her head off as I try to dispense pumped milk into her with no success. At least I don’t have to fight her to sleep because her hysterical crying wears her out so she just passes out as I try to calm her down from the traumatizing feeding attempts. She’s almost 6 months I welcome any tips because my sister will be leaving the baby with us starting on Tuesday and I’d rather not just have her starve and freak out all day long. Seriously if we could just feed her it would be a breeze to take care of her but come on eating is an important part of the day. (she’ll take 4 teeny bits of banana or rice cereal and then stop). Really any ideas from old baby sitting days or days of starting work or whatever send them over.

God bless the parents that can put up with screaming children. Hats off to YOU for taking care of her while they are away. I don’t want to sound “evil” but I’m glad I don’t have kids. They would drive me crazy! ( my wife and I have cats, and sometimes even they get on my nerves! lol)

Oh, what a good aunt. I take care of my SIL’s kids, the 3 month old has acid reflux and cries a LOT. Sometimes it makes me want to cry after a while… ;)

wow…you’ve certainly jumped in the deep end…hope your sister appreciates what you’re doing…my advice…stay calm…the baby will be fine…it will drink when it gets hungry…they’re extremely resilient little things…it’s the carers that get worn out…so take care…coast along…rest when the baby rests…

You are a wonderful sister!! The baby will take the bottle yet. Our oldest got teeth when he was 4 months, nursed about 2 more weeks then got tired of getting bit. It didn’t take long for him to adjust to the bottle. Be patient (I know – it’s hard). Good luck and I hope all of you have a wonderful day!!

Thanks guys, I got a booster seat today with tons of fun toys on it and managed to eyedrop/spoon ‘enough’ into her. It’s still more of a snack but I think it looks better.

First of all, a baby WILL NOT eat from a bottle if the boob is in the house (b/c babies can sense/smell their moms and it messes with them to be givien a feeding alternative when mom is right down the hall). You need to send mom out of the house for a couple minutes while you first try to feed her.
Turn the lights down, try and get her settled, feed her BEFORE she is hungry and crying to eat…
It’ll be rough the first couple days, but baby will get used to it!

Oh, also, since the baby is 6 months old, she is old enough to feed baby food and some finger foods, so if she won’t take a bottle, at least she can have some food in her while she adjusts.
You can add the breast milk to her rice cereal so she gets that too.
