I don’t think I can express how excited I am about this weeks Top Ten Tuesday topic with The Broke and the Bookish. Are you ready…Kick Ass Heroines! Oh yeah totally one of my all time favorite aspects of many of my favorite books. As always I love book friends if you’re on Goodreads I’d love to be friends, find me here.
Tris Prior – I know you are all so shocked to find the star of the Divergent trilogy on this list. She’s strong in both body and mind. I love her quiet reflection and her willingness to stand up and fight for what she believes in.
Isabelle Lightwood – Yes I love Clary but out of all the awesome ladies in The Mortal Instrument series my favorite has got to be Izzy. She’s a great fighter, a loyal friend and sister, a girly girl, and just all around awesome.
Petra Arkanian – Of the Ender books was one of my first book heroines. She’s real, she stands the test in a world dominated by boys and men and tough and smart and brilliant. But not only is a great leader and soldier she ends up being an absolute amazing wife and mother.
Rose Hathaway – Rose is the epitome of kick ass. She’s a fighter to the T. While she may rush into the action she can fight with the best of them and takes her guardianship seriously. Love those Vampire Academy series books!
Celaena Sardothien – She is a new favorite but has captured my heart. The teen assassin from Throne of Glass not only is one of the most fun and capable fighters, she’s a crazy book geek!
Katsa, Fire, Bitterblue – Cashore has a magic pen when it comes to creating stellar heroines. I don’t know which Graceling Realm girl is my favorite! I love all three. Katsa and her firey passion who literally kicks ass, Fire possibly the ultimate survivor and protector of others, or Bitterblue who wielded a knife as a child princess and must navigate politics as a teen. I love them all!
Elisa – Elisa is one of my favorite characters. The way we get to see her grow and try to make sense of and live up to the legacy that she has been given is great. She is a strong, genuine individual and leader. She recognizes her shortcomings and is constantly working to improve herself and not only do what is best but she takes time to try and figure out what is best. And if you haven’t read the second book in the Fire and Thorns series she is not just a fighter in principle but in body!
Kaya – Amazing fighter girl from The Legacy of Tril series! I love watching her hone her fighting skills and jump into the action.
Molly Weasley – Oh yes I love Hermione from the Harry Potter books but Molly has a special place in my heart. I love her fierce mama bear personality, she’s capable but first and foremost she is a strong mom. And who doesn’t love the way she took out that awful Bellatrix!
Ismae Rienne – Professional nun assassin um, yeah. Not only is she an incredible fighter but she strives to do what’s right and protect the weak. Grave Mercy is such a fun read, I adore the setting, historical royalty and whatnot, the descriptions of clothing, but most of all Ismae is one top notch heroine.

I love that you included Molly Weasley on your list! I loved how snarky she could be, and she couldn’t have gotten anymore kick-ass after she killed Bellatrix!

I agree with a lot of your choices. I have Rose on my as well, and while I did put down Hermione, Molly has got to be my second favorite female character in the Harry Potter series. I freaking cheered out loud when she took down Bellatrix. Don’t mess with a momma.
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier, returning some of the love.

Ismae should have been on my list too. I can’t believe I forgot about her.
I totally agree on Isabelle. She’s really awesome! And the Graceling girls, gotta love ’em!
I should really read Heather Brewer’s book. Kaya sounds like my kinda heroine. :)
