This adorable mold above is supposed to shape hard boiled eggs into protein filled globs of cuteness. You boil, peel stick it in warm, smoosh shut and submerge in water. Now while I think my failed attempts at homemade mozzarella are a direct result of false advertising (do not believe that you can pick up a gallon of supermarket milk and make cheese cause almost ALL brands are pasteurized at too high a temp (while at the same time not being ultra pastueurized) AND THE CHEESE PEOPLE KNOW IT, blahhh still makes me mad 3 gallons of wasted milk later okay end rant). Back to the eggs I think my failure can be attributed to the eggs being to a bit too small. They are supposed to be like this. But as you can see my egg came out like this creepy creatures. Yeah Daniel did a double take at first and asked if I put the face there and I’m like no honey it’s one of those Mary in the toast sorts of things but the hard boiled egg version. Anyways my mom is going to bring a couple different molds but I am determined to make these work. Hey do any of you guys know how to deshell hard boiled eggs (while keeping them warm) with out making them ripped up? I need help.

I’m so confused by this! What the heck? I’ve got so many questions…
– When you cut the egg in half… what’s going on in there? If you do this can you take a picture for me b/c I’m so curious!
– Is there any particular reason why one would want a novelty shaped hard boiled egg? lol
– Peel them under running water! When you break them start with the fatter end of the egg(where there is a little air pocket). If any of the shell sticks while you are peeling, run water into the difficult place. The eggs should still stay warm if you don’t use ice cold water.

Ha ha..this looks pretty cool though. You can use it to shape PB&J sandwichs ( minis ) or playdough molds for kids. Maybe filled cookies?

I think a lot has to do with the “doneness” of the white. Cook it too hard, and it won’t mold well.
Anyway, here’s how to peel a hardboiled egg.
As soon as they’re done, empty water from the pot. Now, put some cold water in there. Drain it. Repeat a few times.
Now, with the water drained, toss the pan some to break the shells. Not too hard, but enough to crack them.
The shells should slip off easily now (especially if you peel them under running water) and the eggs will still be warm.

Mary in the toast! Hysterical!
I always peel my egg under cold running water–but that may cool it off too much.

OMgosh, this is freakin hilarious!! I tried the cold water thing, and it didn’t help. Let me know if you find something that works though.
