We always gathered at my grandmother’s house for Easter and used real boiled eggs to hunt. One year after the children had had a turn at hiding the eggs the grownups found all but one. They looked and looked but couldn’t find it. They made the children look at the eggs to try to figure out who had hidden the final egg. It was my cousin. He said he buried it. He tried to take the adults to the spot but they never found it. As an adult I wonder if he didn’t actually eat it!
