Do you feel like your kids grow out of their clothes faster than you can buy them? Well I have a fantastic book full of ways to squeeze every last ounce of wearableness out of kids clothes. Disney from Ruffles and Stuff wrote (and photographed) the cutest book: Little Fixes 54 Clever Ways to Extend the Life of Kids’ Clothes. Seriously if I wasn’t already a fan I’d still think the book was brilliant.
She has all kinds of tips on how to easily alter kid clothes. Whether the kiddo has outgrown the item, gotten a stain, or a rip she’s got tons of ideas.
So far Teddy barely has time to wear his clothes before they are too small but I do have a few onesies I bought for the shop that came stained so I’ve just been saving them for T to wear when he gets bigger. To deal with the stain I tried Disney’s tutorial for a reverse applique and I think it turned out super cute. I was really tempted to try one of her many “make it bigger” tips but since we’re still in onesies I’d have to do both length and width and really my growing machine is sure to be out of that in just a few months anyways!
Tops, dresses, pants, and even accessories. This book is jam packed. I especially love this cute idea to add a fun bib when the neck area of a shirt is shot.
And I think the nieces would be so cute in these sleeves turned leg warmers and arm warmers. Really how cut right?
I hope you liked my pick, Disney Powell’s Little Fixes, for Craft Book Month! This September marks the 4th Annual Craft Book Month at Craft Buds! This year, we’re excited to celebrate all month long with a blog hop of inspiring craft book projects and LOTS of giveaways for sewing along with a sewing, knitting, cookbook or other craft book of YOUR CHOICE.
If you are a craft book hoarder, you are not alone. Several years ago, I had an urge to dust off my craft books, unfold those crisp pattern sheets and put those patterns to good use by actually making some projects. :)
