Let’s talk about sewing for ourselves for a minute. I know that if you’re like most women you’re not in love with your body. Maybe like me you just had a baby and your body is, well changing. And it will be changing for a while. Or maybe you’re in the middle of an awesome weight loss plan, toning regimen or what have you. And as awesome as it is to sew for yourself you just find it hard to put in the work (or cut up your precious fabric) when you don’t know how long it will fit.
That’s where I am right now. I’m seeing the scale slowly creep down but my body is totally different than I’m used too. Plus now I have to take into consideration nursing friendliness on everything that I wear. Why didn’t you guys warn me while I was sewing this last year? I love the stuff I made but most of the things I made just don’t work with nursing.
And it seems I’m still getting used to this mommy-ness and I picked sleep and finally reading again over the last few weeks so this month for Sew Our Stash I have another of Go To Patter’s Casual Lady to share with you. I used fabric I found at Michael Levine on last year’s Fabric Shopping Trip. Don’t be surprised if you see a few more over the next few months. They are just easy too make and easy to wear. But I do have a few items that I want to make, out of knits so hopefully they will still fit fine after I lose some more weight and will be comfy along the way. So hopefully next month I’ll have more than just a top to show but hey I got a new top right?
All my whining aside I have to say even if I only make myself 1 article of clothing a month it’s totally a win. I paired this with my favorite Shattered Mirror Necklace and my knit pencil skirt that I made so slow and steady builds a wardrobe right? How did you do this month? I saw Flamingo Toes Bev making something with polka dots and peter pan collar cuteness on the Instagram tag #sewourstash. Be sure to hop over there and see what she ended up sewing and keep tagging your selfish sewing (and wearing) pictures :)
Let’s connect! You can also find me hanging out here.

Great top!
I am going through some body changes too, (where none of my clothes fit anymore) and I actually sewed up a Casual Lady top today. I love this pattern, and yours has inspired me to try another one this weekend. Thanks!
