I am so excited to be joining Jess from If Only They Would Nap for her awesome series Straight Lines and Angles all about geometric sewing. There have already been so many great posts make sure to hop over and check out all the other bloggers’ creations.
Since so many boy friendly fabrics are stripes I decided to go stripe crazy for this little one piece for Teddy. Not only did I mix stripe fabric but I also did some lines of top stitching on the red sleeve. I saw this on an outfit at a fancy smancy baby boutique and I’ve been wanting to try it myself.
I think the little rows of straight lines are a sweet detail that can be added to a basic sihouette to make it just a little more interesting when you don’t have busy fabric you are working with.
It’s so simple if you want to do it yourself all you need is a ruler or straight edge and a fabric marker. Mark out your lines and then sew along them. Remove the fabric marker (according to the directions of your particular marker, usually with marker). You’ll want to do the the top stitching before you sew the garment together in most instances. just look at your piece and where you want the detail and decide what would make sense for your project.
This my friends is Teddy’s first for the blog “photo shoot” for the blog and I have to day he was definitely a trooper. Before I put the outfit on I warned him that he’d have a lot more of this in his future ;)
Also don’t forget to check out what the other bloggers who are a part of this fun series have made and will be making and enter to win an awesome prize pack of patterns.
Let’s connect! You can also find me hanging out here.
