I think I found a sofa. The Chloe which is currently on sale and a lot less than most of the mordern-ish ones we’ve been drawn to. We need a small one, something like a love seat or not too long of a sofa. Ideally it’ll have enough room for a couple of people though. But the bigger issue is that our current couch that I love is a little ummm bright, it’s a deep rust and I love it but it’s not like a neutral you know? And then there’s the rug. First off I haven’t purchased the rug yet. But I still do like the Jala Medallion that I wrote about before.
That said I am also considering a more plain ivory (or another color) rug (or I guess keep looking for a different print) and maybe getting the couch in grey because I really do like the grey and it doesn’t seem as bright. Would the grey go with the Jala Medallion rug? I’m kinda assuming it wouldn’t but maybe it does. I kind of like modern, elegant, anthropologie and I’m worried the rust and celadon may come off too crafty, kitchy, funky, too cheery, too Rachel Ray). Okay that probably sounds weird but I’m not sure how to say it. Besides the style/feel of the different combos I’m nervous about committing to another color. The grey would be like adding a neutral instead of another color that I’ll always have to consider. (UPDATED: okay I just added the grey and medallion to see hmmm, maybe it does work?)
p.s. we close next Wednesday and are scheduled to move in next Saturday evening.

i am in the same boat! having a hell of a time finding a couch that isn’t too big or too small, and once you do then there’s the problem of the right colour…
personally i love the second combination with the more neutral rug and couch. that’s how i try and decorate.. carpet, walls, furniture in nice neutral greys, browns and whites and then you can add other bits and pieces to give some proper personality, that way it’s nothing so big that it’s going to be heartbreaking or bankbreaking to change when you’re tired of it..
(i do really love that couch though so i’m sure you could make it look fab no matter which colour & rug combination you choose :)

I love the couch and the top is my favorite, but I love color. Good luck with closing and moving.

Marissa,
Firstly, Thank you for stopping by at Bird Crafts and for saying hi!! :)
I would go for grey and accessorize with bright orange (or anything else you fancy)! Couches are an investment and you have to live with it for a while? So this way, you can swap and change accent colours to suit any room, mood, season…But that’s just me… :)
BTW digging the red gingham pants in your Etsy shop ;)

I love them all but my favorite is the green one at the top. I think you should go for what you love. If you love the rug and the couch, do it. It’s only furniture. If you end up hating it in a couple of years, sell it on Craigslist.
We bought the Corona from Macy’s after MUCH deliberation and it was the perfect choice for us (but full size, too big for you).
Just like you can start with a neutral base and add bangs of color, you can start with bangs of color and tone it down with calmer colors for pillows and the wall.
I can’t wait to see what you decide on.

I do think that a couch is a big investment… I love the first set of photos together. I am horrible putting colors together, but am trying to be a little bolder! Go for it!

I like it! The couches look great with the print rug (I like either color for the couch). Print rugs will hide more crumby’s :) We have a solid dark blue rug and it constantly looks dirty with little pieces of lint, paper, crackers, whatever the little ones drag in. I have a hard time decorating, but my sister is amazing at it and she says, just get what you love and don’t worry as much about style matching. Congrats on the house btw!
